I ignored friends who advised against being a carpenter- CEO, New Dawn Furniture
Kolawole Baba Ibrahim was a mere plank sales boy at the Sawmill area of Ilorin, Kwara where he garnered experience which has helped in his furniture making business.
On his journey into the furniture making world, the CEO of New Dawn Furniture said, “About a decade ago, I was instructed to supply a customer in his shop and when I got to the shop I was thrilled by the beautiful executive chairs and tables made by their client.”
According to him, after consultation the client invited him to learn the craft, adding that his creative mind has helped him in the business.
” I had to humble myself to develop creative ideas and my friends advised me that I should stop the carpentry work because of my dignity but I refused to give up,” he said.
Ibrahim stressed that determination to succeed is the bedrock of his success in the business, which has expanded over time.
He, however, urged youths never to give up on their passion for skill acquisition and artistry, saying that they could explore it for economic gain.
The CEO also called the state government to assist small and medium scales enterprises with loans to boost growth of businesses.
