Entrepreneurship: Ekiti LG to partner Unilorin on youth training

Ekiti Local Government, Kwara State has concluded plans to partner University of Ilorin (Unilorin) on community development and youth entrepreneurial training.

This was disclosed by Chairman of the council, Comrade Yinka Ayeni (a.k.a. Yinka Dallas) during an interview shortly after a visit to the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Sulyman Age on Friday.

According to the council boss, โ€œThe scheme would open the local government to the world and Ekiti will become centre for Unilorin research in Cassava and geologyโ€.

โ€œAbout 20 youths will be train per session at the university, though the training is not free, but it will be highly subsidised, ” he added.

He listed the area of possible collaboration to include; possibility of geological site in Ekiti LG, location of Unilorin cassava and soya beans farmlands and youth entrepreneurship training.

โ€œThe discussion was fruitful as the vice Chancellor promised a positive response. He has also requested for list of youths to benefit from the entrepreneurship training.

Recall that Ekiti Local Government Council in collaboration with Bank of Industry had earlier disbursed over N100m in loan facilities to youths, farmers and market women across the 10 wards that made up the local government.

The loan, according to Ayeni,ย ย is interest- free, adding that the gesture is aimed at alleviating the financial challenges of people in the local government.
