Police arrest 4 suspected burglars in Ilorin

Three suspects have been nabbed by men of Kwara State Police command for burglary in Ilorin, Penultimate Thursday, Pilot crime gathered.
The suspected burglars are Kamarudeen Olayinka, Hammed Folorunsho and Gazali Ibrahim all of Basin area, Ilorin.
The trio reportedly broke into a shop and carted away valuables worth N300,000.
According to a police source, the case was reported at the area command office, Ilorin by the shop owner, Tope Taofeeq that her shop situated at Alagbado area was burgled, penultimate Wednesday and items including jeans, baby wears, shoes, fabrics among others valued at N300,000 were carted away.
The source added that members of the community divulged to the victim identities of the perpetrators.
He added that on receiving the report by the victim, the police swung into the matter and the suspects were arrested.
“During interrogation, the trio confessed to the crime. Following investigation, it was revealed that the suspects are serial burglars, who also indulge in drug abuse.
“The suspects have given lead for the arrest of their accomplice who are at large,” the source said.
Similarly, men of Nigeria Police Force, Kwara Police Command have arrested a 24-year-old man, John Steven for allegedly breaking into the houses of some Indians, recently.
Pilot Crime gathered that the suspect reportedly broke into house of the Managing Director of Rainbow Drilling Company, and Operator of the control room, Shekar and Sai respectively.
They were said to have carted away laptop and cash to the tune of N3.5m.
According to a police source, the case was reported at the ‘E’ Division Police Station by Kayode Samuel, who is also a staff of the company.
“He disclosed that the houses of the two company bosses were broken into and the suspects carted away laptop valued at N140,000 and cash in different currencies to the tune of N3,500,000.
“He said they suspected two of their staff, John Stephen and Usman Husseni. John was said to have complained of stomachache and was given permission to go home for treatment, rest and to return next day.
“The other staff Usman also took permission to visit the restroom and was later discovered to have gone missing and his mobile number unreachable.
The police were said to have swung into action, which led to arrest of one of the suspects.
“GSM numbers of John Stephen and Usman were tracked and traced to Jos in Plateau State and Lokoja in Kogi State respectively, which led to the arrest of John in Kanshar Village, Jos and the sum of N21,800 with Techno android phone recovered. His accomplice Usman is still at large.”
The source added that, Stephen voluntarily confessed to the crime, adding that he conspired with Usman to commit the crime.
