KWIRS rakes in N10.6bn in 6months
The Kwara State Internal Revenue Service has generated a total sum of N10.6 billion between January and June 2018 fiscal year.
The agency also claimed that the initial target N38 billion for 2018 could not be met.
Featuring on a Royal FM programme on Thursday, the Executive Chairman of KWIRS, Dr. Muritala Awodun assured that the revenue that will be generated this year will surpass that of 2017.
He explained that the shortfall was as a result of the inability of most ministries and agencies to deliver on their target.
Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication to the state Governor, Dr. Muideen Akorede noted that all money generated were not meant to be spent as some revenue must be retained for the running of ministries, department and agencies.
Akorede explained that the state government through the Infrastructure Development Fund (IFK) has spent billions of naira on infrastructural development such as road.
