I started business to fight inferior complex – CEO TruOrganic Fish Farm

Mr. Chimda Jacob is the Chief Executive Officer of TruOrganic Fish farm located along Ile-Oba area of Ilorin, Kwara State. He ventured into business to eliminate the feeling of inferiority complex.
He said “I studied Fishery at the Obafemi Awolowo University of Ile Ife. My father, a carpenter sponsored my education. After my youth service in 2010 I returned home and could not get a job. I discovered that our neighbours were looking down on my family.
“So, in 2012 I took a decision to start a fish pond farm by translating my knowledge into practice with a little capital of N78,000 .
“Thank God all that has become history today and I have proved the entire world that nobody is born inferior and without talent. I have many people working for me today.
The CEO stressed that to be successful in the business, he remained focus, adding that he now enjoys patronage from big hotels within Ilorin.
On his advise to youths, he said there can be no gain without pain, stressing that comfort zone is an enemy of progress.
“They should try to utilise their youthful energy on meaningful ventures. They may fall but will definitely learn series of lesson that will make them excel in future. ”
Speaking on challenges in the business, he said bulk of our customers are middle class people, who are salary earners. They usually buy on credit and this affects the growth of business.
“Bad debt also pose as challenge. Some close associate like friends, family relatives, church members will come and collect fish without immediate payment.”
He also pointed out that lack of adequate funding is hampering growth of the business.
“We are seriously in need of capital to buy land for expansion. The little business we involved in is like an experiment which has worked for us. I have asked my wife to register with the fish farmers association in order for us to enjoy loan facilities from the government,” he further said.
