Herdsman arrested for robbery

A 24 year-old Fulani herdsman, Lawali Gandu will soon be charged to court over robbery attack on one Danjuma Mustapha of Duro village in Kwara State, Pilot Crime has learnt.
It was gathered that Gandu of Koloke Fulani camp via Isanlu Makutu,Kogi State is a member of a three-man robbery gang.
The suspect,Lawali Gandu was said to have been nabbed the following day after the attack on Mustapha.
The suspect with his accomplices now at large, reportedly attacked the victim with dangerous weapons along Abugi/Patigi road close to Duro village in an attempt to rob him of his belongings.
According to police source, the case was reported at the Patigi Divisional Police Station by the victim.
“The victim was on his way home when he ran into a road block by the armed robbers. He was beaten and his motorcycle destroyed during the operation.
” Mustapha had brought out his cutlass and fought the robbers in self defense. In the process, he inflicted matchete cut on the palm of one of the robbers, which made them to flee the scene.
“Luck ran out on Gandu as he was sighted in Duro village the next day with the matchete cut wound on his palm. He was promptly apprehended by members of the community and subsequently handed over to the police.
“The case was transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligent Department for discreet investigation.
” He named one Bayo Jamini, who is at large as one of the members of the gang. Effort is ongoing to arrest other members of the gang,” the source added.
Efforts to get the Spokesperson of the state Police Command, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi proved abortive as calls and text messages were not responded to at the time of filing this report.
