Jamiu Alimi joins El-Kanemi warriors

 

Former Shooting Stars of Ibadan defender, Jamiu Alimi joins Nigeria Professional Football League side, El-Kanemi Warriors from Akwa United, completesport.com reports.

The Super Eagles defender joins the Maiduguri side on loan till the end of the season after seeing limited playing time under tutelage of former FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s coach, Rafael Everton.

Alimi is reunited with coach Baba Ganaru who he worked under at Kano Pillars, where they won three Nigeria Professional League title in a row.

Speaking with completesport, he reveals he joined the Borno Army in search of playing time. Alimi has featured once for the promise keepers this season.

“I was not getting the needed time to play,” Alimi told Completesports.com.

“So when the opportunity came for me I opted to leave.”

El-Kanemi Warriors will hope to secure a continental ticket this season with 18 points, which put them second in Group B of the abridged Nigeria Professional Football League from 10 games played.
