Polls Results: IEDPU hails Saraki’s spirit of sportmanship, maturity

The umbrella body for all socio-cultural associations in Ilorin, Kwara state, Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has commended the fascinating spirit of patriotism and statesmanship exhibited by the Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki on the outcome of the just concluded general elections in the state.
The union equally praised other Ilorin compatriots, who contested for various offices in the elections but lost out for the matured manner with which they handled the situation.
In a statement by its Acting national president, Alhaji Yahaya Ahmed, the IEDPU said that history will be very kind to Saraki and others for their previous services and, most especially, for the matured manner they handled the outcome of the elections.
The group also congratulated Alhaji AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq on his emergence as the Governor-elect of Kwara state, describing his victory as the will of Allah.
It also felicitated with its one-time national Financial Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, on his election as the Senator for Kwara Central Senatorial District.
It similarly congratulated Alhaji AbdulGaniyu Cook-Olododo and Alhaji Yekini Alajagusi as well as other Ilorin compatriots who were elected into various legislative houses.
It prayed God to guide those elected towards providing quality governance and fulfillment of their promises of making dividends of democracy available to the people of the state.
…embark on project, policies to uplift Kwarans – Prof Oba
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Talba of Ilorin, Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem, has congratulated Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on his landslide election victory as the Kwara State Governor-Elect at the last Saturday poll.
The party stalwart also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its unbiased and peaceful conduct of the electioneering exercise stressing that, “You have indeed made us build more confidence in the institution.”
In his congratulatory message issued on Wednesday, Prof Oba AbdulRaheem urged the Governor-Elect to swing into actions and tackle the numerous problems of maladministration, poor infrastructure, youth restiveness among others persisting in the state.
He also advised him to always heed to the yearnings of the masses by embarking on desirable policies and projects capable of turning the lives of Kwarans around positively within the shortest period in the annals of his administration.
According to him, “I congratulate Kwara electorates who have worked hard to achieve the long awaited liberation for our dear state. You all conducted yourself peacefully during the voting process; you demonstrated enthusiasm to exercise your civic rights of electing the most suitable candidates among others.
“We are all witnesses to the electioneering processes which was very strenuous and keenly contested among political parties, I therefore commend the APC leadership in the state, elders, stakeholders, women and youths for the display of strong commitment to the struggle.
“Despite the turbulent terrain and charged political atmosphere, we were able to conduct ourselves peaceful and earn the desired results of taking over governance of the state. This is indeed a clear testimony that our nascent democracy is progressing.
“The economy of our state must also occupy your urgent attention. There is the need to be more creative in formulating policies that will improve the state’s economy, create employment opportunities and give hope to our teeming youths”, he added.
He therefore urged Kwarans to be supportive and committed to the fact that “It is a new dawn in Kwara and together we shall all work towards her growth and development”.

A socio-cultural group in Ilorin Emirate, Kwara state, the Third-Estate Forum has poured encomiums on the Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki for his maturity and show of sportsmanship after the release of the results of the just concluded general elections in the state.
The Third Estate Forum expressed its satisfaction with the Saraki’s maturity conduct after the announcement of the outcome of polls result in a statement signed by its publicity secretary, Yushau Abdulhameed Agaka.
“The spirit of sportsmanship displayed by the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed and the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Barr. Razak Atunwa, significantly helped to douse tensions and ensured sustainability of peace and security, which are the major precursors for development.
“We must salute the courage and maturity of others who lost in the various elections. Their astonishing emotional composure despite suffering electoral misfortunes ensured that calm, peace and orderliness prevailed across the entire state after INEC declared the various election results,” it stated.
The forum equally congratulated the Governor-elect of the state, Alh AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq on his victory.
It also congratulated its member, Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, on his election as the Senator for the Kwara Central Senatorial District .
The forum noted that the actions, words, body language and conduct of winners and losers in the elections had ensured peace and stability in Kwara.
It added: “We congratulate the Kwara State Governor-Elect, Alh. Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman, the Senator-Elect for Kwara Central, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe who is our member and other elected federal lawmakers and state House of Assembly members, not only for their deserving victory at the polls but for being magnanimous in victory. This shows that their aspiration to lead is patriotic, selfless and purposeful.
“We must also remind elected officers that the tasks ahead are enormous. Hence, they must be prepared to hit the ground running after assuming office, come May 29. Their campaign promises are articles of faith that should not be jettisoned. They must be implemented to the letter.
