Arsenal set price for Southampton target Walcott

Arsenal has set their asking price for Theo Walcott.

The Daily Mail says Saints will try to negotiate with Arsenal over Walcott during the January transfer window.

Arsenal are said to want more than £25 million for Walcott, who enjoys a £110,000-per-week contract that expires at the end of next season.

That is steep money for Southampton, despite the £75m sale of Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool.

They will try to open talks with the north Londoners over the possibility of lowering the asking price in order to bring Walcott back to St Mary’s, where he came through the academy.

Real targets Hazard, Courtois

Real Madrid’s top transfer targets in the summer will be Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois but they will wait for Harry Kane.

He said: “Real Madrid need big names and they have lined up Courtois, they want Hazard. Those are the kind of names they want for next season. Doesn’t mean they will get them, but that’s the shopping list they have.

“It’s becoming clearer in the minds of the directors of Real Madrid they need another striker, that Benzema has to be sold. He doesn’t even have the backing of the fans.

“Real Madrid will always do their plan of getting a Galactico every year or couple of years and they realise their front men are getting older, it’s more difficult for them to score. There will be players coming in. Not so much reacting to Barcelona, just keeping up with everybody else.

Inter wants Jan signing

Inter Milan technical director Walter Sabatini has flown out to China to convince owners Suning Group to spend some money in January.

Their main transfer target is Javier Pastore, although they are also looking at Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Gerard Deulofeu and Ramires.

Tottenham places£300M for Kane

Real Madrid has been told it will cost £300m to sign Harry Kane.

The striker is thought to be on the La Liga club’s radar and are considering selling Karim Benzema in the summer, but Tottenham will reportedly not accept anything less than the stated fee.

Puel wants to keep Mahrez, Slimani

Claude Puel wants to keep Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani at Leicester City but has admitted Ahmed Musa could leave in January.

“This period is always a difficult period with speculation about different players,” Puel said. “I am happy with ‘Slim’. We have a lot of strikers and offensive players and we need to have good balance to give them game time.

“I am happy with him [Mahrez] and I think he is enjoying his football. He is happy to play with this team. He has good results with assists and goals in recent games. I think it is important he keeps this focus and concentration until the end of the season.

“We will see [about Musa]. Perhaps it could be a possibility. We will see with the player and the opportunity for the club also. I need to have discussions about some players.”

Liverpool not in for Lemar

Liverpool’s decision to allow Philippe Coutinho to join Barcelona will not bring forward any possible move for Thomas Lemar.

The Monaco forward has regularly been linked with a move to the Premier League, with rivals Arsenal also understood to have strong interest in the 22-year-old.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger denied making a January move for Lemar as recently as last week.

Mirallas joins Olympiakos on loan

Everton forward Kevin Mirallas has rejoined Greek club Olympiakos on loan until the end of the season.

The Belgium striker, 30, joined the Toffees from Olympiakos in 2012 for £6m and has played 186 games for the Merseyside club, scoring 38 goals.

However, he has only made five Premier League appearances for Everton this season, three of them as a substitute.

Mirallas helped Olympiakos win the Greek title in 2011 and 2012 with 34 goals in 71 games in his first spell.

He has 59 caps for Belgium and will hope to be part of their squad for this summer’s World Cup.
