A group, Kwara Elites for Total Freedom (KETF) has condemned what it
described as take “takeover of government” by family of the state
Governor, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq at the expense of other
progressives.
This was contained in a statement issued by the group and made
available to newsmen in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Sunday.
The group also advised that the government should refrain from its
planned vengeance attack against the referred stool of Emir of Ilorin.
It said, “We want to remind Governor Abdulrahaman that the struggle to
liberate Kwara from the shackles of the Sarakis is primarily for
Kwarans and development of Kwara and not for sole interest of the
Abdulrasaq family. We also state categorically that this glory should
not for vengeance; it is only when the status quo remains that the
government can enjoy peace and harmony under which service delivery
can be guaranteed.
“Today, the rumour is again coming to the fore and growing wild that
Governor Abdulrahman’s brother, Isiaka Abdulrazaq has already penciled
down one of their immediate cousins, Dr.Yusuf Lawal for the position
of Chief of Staff while one 79 years old Engineer Adisa Logun was
billed to be the Secretary to the State Government. While we agree the
two gentlemen may possess the qualification for the appointments, we
condemn in totality the attempt of Abdulrazaq family to dominate the
government and deprive other progressives the opportunity to be
identified in a government to suffered to entrenched.
According to KETF, events and developmemnt in recent time points to a
dangerous trendm which it lkemed to a time bomb that has to be halted
in the interest in the development of the state.
“As a group of responsible Kwarans who was part and parcel of the
OTOGE struggles which put a halt to long era of Saraki hegemony in our
dear state, having watched with keen interest especially in this past
weeks, we are beginning to feel some pulse of discomforts over the
invents that are recently erupting from the stable of the Governor and
the danger this poses to our state and we feel our silence cannot more
be golden.
“We recall the rough journey that what now looks like victory to APC
family started long before now and with some courageous progressives
who had put their lives and properties at state for this days to come.
We cannot allow the efforts of these heroes and heroines to be washed
in illusions. Fast forwarding to pre l-2019 general elections, the
APC family today cannot pretend to be unaware that it is a product of
amalgamation of conglomerates of interest groups notable among which
are the APC’s, the PDP, both of Akogun and Fagbemi groups, the
aggrieved Saraki’s whose stayed put in APC as well as other interest
groups.”
The group noted that the governor is a product of imposition as
against the wish of majority and the aspirants who invested tyheir
finance, energy and time.
“With the unprecedented controversial circumstances which surrounds
Abdulrahman emergence at the primary and with the bitterness all
others aspirants were still nursing at that time, one would assumed
that the party will toe the path of fairness and probity, as a group,
our expectation then was that the party will allow the embittered
aspirants to choose from among themselves, the running mate to
Abdulrahaman owing to their individual contributions and complacency
to the party directives.
“Indeed, we were looking forward to the names like that of Chief
Akogun Oyedepo, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, Baba Rex Olawuyi and among
other prominent party men from Kwara South but to our dismay,… Mr.
Kayode Alabi, a man with long history of family relationship with
Abdulrasaqs family came to the fore as running mate.
Just as we stated earlier, the struggle for restoration of Kwara from
Saraki hegemony came to reality through amalgamation of varying
interest groups, hence, it is not a joke that the reality unfolding
so far after our victory have only been favorable to Abdulrasaqs
family alone at the expense of other interest groups which make up the
APC.
“A reliable source close to AA family indicates that the next plan of
the Abdlrasaqs family is to dethrone the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim
Sulu Gambari and a prince who is extremely close Abdulrazaqs family is
being sinisterly prepared to step into the throne of our Emir. This
insider also confirmed that the Prince is the son of the 10th Emir of
Ilorin. The said Prince was involved in the rigorous business of last
elections, he was put to oversee the mobilization of supports of all
traditional chiefs across Emirate which includes; the Daudus,
Alanguas, Mongajis and the Mallams to ensure victory for Abdulrahaman.
This was an assignment perfectly carried out by the said Prince.”
