Aggrieved members of the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have accused Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of working with the national officials from the headquarters of the party in town to conduct the registration/revalidation exercise sinister move as far as the exercise was cornered.
The Senator Danboi-led team from Abuja has been in the state for the exercise since last week which is expected to end next week across the country.
Many leaders who are against the governor have accused him of working with the national officials to hijacking the exercise in the continuation of the fight for the control of the soul of the party in the state ahead of the party’s convention.
The preparation for the commencement of the exercise last week in the state was later enmeshed in violence and shooting at the state Banquet Hall, venue of the stakeholders meeting and at Adewole Ward few hours after the Governor had registered.
But apart from the Governor’s AA faction members who have displayed their revalidation slip, many members of the aggrieved group have bitterly complained about the exercise especially by the provision of exercise book to collate their names against the provision registration/revalidation materials.
Hon Saheed Popoola had raised the alarm over the development during a radio programme last week adding that Kwarans should also the committee whether they are here for registration or to destroy the party.
In a telephone chat with National Pilot, another aggrieved party leader and former gubernatorial candidate from Kwara North, the Makama of Lafiagi, Alhaji Tajudeen Audu rejected the process adding that no registration exercise is going on in Kwara “where they will be collating names of party members in an exercise book instead of the registration/revalidation slip.
When contacted last night, a prominent member of the aggrieved faction and former PDP chairman, Iyiola Oyedepo said the party is going for a (crucial) meeting last night and will only be able to (state their position) after the meeting.
The caretaker chairman of the APC in Offa, Yusuf Abdulganiyu Kehinde, last week challenged the AA group to release the materials for registration if they are popular, a position that was also echoed by the party in Oyun.
