An Ilorin based Non- Governmental Organization, Yusuf Aliyu foundation has donated blocks of classrooms, offices and toilets to Magaji Are ward in the Ilorin East local government area of Kwara State.
The foundation which was founded about ten years ago with the sole mandate of supporting youths, and community development has given scholarship to indigent kwara students and provided learning materials to schools across the state.
Speaking with our reporter in his office recently, the chairman of the foundation, Engr. Yusuf Aliyu said the desire to give back to the society informed his decision to form the NGo.
According to him, ‘the desire to give back to the society having been a beneficiary of the same society spurn the establishment of Yusuf Aliyu foundation.’
“The foundation is passionate for community and youth development. At every stages of my life and I noticed having been a great beneficiary of the society hence the need to reciprocate.
“The foundation has awarded scholarships to indigent students and provided learning materials to schools to support the efforts of the state government in providing qualitative education to students in kwara.
“The foundation recently donated classrooms, offices and toilets for a school in Magaji Are community. The foundation has given scholarship award to student of tertiary institutions, and registration of candidates for NABTEB.
“Other areas of the foundation’s gesture includes, registration of candidates for UTME, donation of computers, donations of furniture to schools, donations of braille, guiding sticks and other materials to schools for special needs, donations of school uniform and sponsoring of sporting activities,” the philanthropist added.
Aliyu who was the former Group Managing Director of Harmony Holdings however traced his humanitarian tutelage to his elder brother pledged to extend the foundation gesture to cut across the 16 local government area of kwara State.
