Deputy Speaker splashes N10m on constituency

Deputy Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Mathew Okedare yesterday said he has expended about ten million naira in the last two and half years of service.
He said the fund was used for the provision of water projects both motorised and hand pump boreholes in various communities comprising the 7 wards in his Lanwa/Ejidongari Constituency adding that the gesture also covered expenses for the provision of empowerment tools for various beneficiaries in order to be self-dependent.
He listed the benefitting communities as Lanwa, Gbodi, Bi-Elesin, Odetan, Biribiri, Mofara, Surulere, Oguntulu, Igbira, Budo-Salami, Aiyekale, Onipako, Sabo-Ngida, Oke-Yaro and Oloko.
Okedare, who disclosure this at the Constituency meeting held at Government Secondary School, Lanwa appreciated the people for their support and promised to always operate an open door policy.
He noted that the gesture was borne out of his desire to complement the state and local government efforts in order to bring relief to the benefitting communities and debunked allegation making the rounds that he and other members of the legislature collected the sum of N20m each for constituency projects.
While acknowledging the people’s cooperation to him, Okedare further disclosed that he had recently approved and release the sum of One Hundred and Seventy Thousand Naira (N170, 000) for the repair of Ejidongari and Okuta-Alla bore holes to reduce acute water shortage in the areas.
In the same vein, he donated additional One million and Five Hundred Thousand naira and several bags of rice to be distributed among the All Progressives Congress (APC) faithful, youths and traditional rulers in his Constituency.

Okedare, while speaking at the monthly constituency meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at Government Day Secondary School, Lanwa, Moro local government on Saturday, described the issue as the handiwork of political detractors and called on the peoples to disregard it.
Earlier, the APC Kwara North Senatorial Chairman, Alhaji Adisa Oniwa commended the deputy speaker’s gesture, admonishing other public office holders to emulate him.
Oniwa said that the legislator has been a good representative of his Lanwa/Ejidongari and entire Moro Local Government at the House of Assembly, praying God to further enrich him.
