Pending last minute change to the decision, the leadership of the Kwara state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) may replace the three senatorial chairmen in the state in the coming state congress on Saturday.

The decision to replace Alhaji Isiaka Oniwa(North), Alhaji Jimoh Adesina (Central) and Alhaji Jimoh Balogun (South) is reportedly coming on the heels of the directive of the party to invigorate the offices with fresh faces with new ideas who will serve as added value to the fortunes of the party.

Some of the affected senatorial chairmen are said to have served as party and senatorial chairmen for the past thirty years.

It was gathered that the final decision relating to some of the offices will be ratified weekend when the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki visit the state for the congress.

According sources who spoke on the issue last night in confidence because they were not authorised to speak officially on the matter, except for the offices of the secretary and PRO, other positions might be “affected” in the new dispensation.

Asked who may be the likely successors, one of the sources said those that are being considered cut across the three senatorial districts.

“Although it has not been decided, in Kwara North, it may go to either Kaiama or even be retained in Moro to compensate them because of their “disadvantage position” in the new scheme of thing.  People that are being touted in Kaiama are former council chairman, Alhassan Bagudu and Alhaji Issa Bawa who is a former commissioner and in Moro is a certain Alhaji Faruku from who also hails from the same ward with Alhaji Isiaka Oniwa.

In Kwara Central, those that are being looked upon are one Alhaji Morocco from Asa who a source described as expose and well on ground also”. In Kwara South, it was gathered that if the incumbent, Alhaji Jimoh Balogun is eventually replaced, Alhaji Tajuden Bada from Irepodun, a prominent leader from Offa (name withheld) and one Mr Elegede, a former party chairman in the region.

However, findings last night on the possible replacement of the chairman of the party, Hon Ishola Balogun-Fulani was not definite. There were two narratives to the issue. While one of the narratives suggested his replacement, it was learnt that BF as he is popularly called in the political circles might be retained because of his “extreme loyalty to the leader and dynasty”.
