KWSG begins payment of bursary to students today

The Kwara State government will today (Monday) commence disbursement of bursary to students in higher institutions within the state.
This includes indigenous students from University of Ilorin, Kwara State University, Kwara State Polytechnic, all the state colleges of Education and Technical among others.
The Senior Special Adviser to Governor Ahmed on Labour Matters and Students Affairs, Comrade Bisi Fakayode made the disclosure during a telephone chat with Pilot Education on Saturday.
He said ” I want to confirm to you that the state government will commence payment of bursary to students within the state.
“This is to ensure that students’ welfare is not jeopardise despite the shortfalls in allocation to the state from the Federal Government,” he explained.
Fakayode called on the students to organise themselves towards ensuring a seamless exercise.
Earlier, the National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS) had stated that the Kwara State government is set to commence payment of bursary funds to students schooling within schools in Kwara State from Monday.
A statement jointly signed by the President, Musa Mohammed Mancha and Publicity Secretary, Salihu Ayatullahi and made available to this medium, stated that the SSA Students, Comrade Bisi Fakayode had assured the students that the money is already on ground and disbursement will commence by Monday.
“Sequel to the planned protest scheduled to hold today, the leadership of the National Association of Kwara State led by the Vice-President (admin) Comrade Abdullahi Ibrahim Paranti met with the S.A. Students, Comrade Bisi Fakayode who affirmed that the fund is meant to be disbursed to students schooling within Kwara state is already on ground.”
“He noted that the disbursement will start on Monday, January 11th, 2019.”
“The scholarship board chairperson, Barr. Fatima Yusuf also confirmed that the money has been released by the state government and they are planning to start payment immediately after they are done with the northern states this week
“We are hereby using this medium to urge the entire students to remain calm as we are working tirelessly to ensure your interest are protected”
The statement also implored the state government, scholarship board, S.A. Students and other necessary stakeholders to keep to their promises.
They further assured all NAKSITTES of a free, fair and transparent disbursement process.
“Like we have been doing, we will also ensure all Kwaran students are well informed of the activities surrounding the bursary before, during and after the disbursement.”
