The acting Editor of National Pilot Newspaper, Mrs Joke
Adeniyi-Jackson is presently bereaved following the passing of her
husband, Engr. Olajide Jackson.
Jackson, the chief engineer at National Centre for Agricultural
Mechanisation (NCAM), Amoyo, breathed his last around 5am on Sunday at
the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) after a brief
illness.
His body had since been deposited at the morgue, while burial
arrangement will be announce by the family later.
Among the early sympathisers with the acting Editor of this medium is
the Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye
and the immediate past Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education,
Hajia Maryam Garuba.
Ajakaye, who called Mrs Jackson around 10:30 am yesterday expressed
his sympathy and prayed to God to grant the family the fortitude to
bear the loss.
Similarly, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor of Kwara
State, Bunmi Adedoyin, who was at the family at the family residence
of the deceased at Kabba Road, prayed for the widow seeking for God’s
favour and guidance.
On her part, Hajia Garuba, who was worshipping when she heard about
the unfortunate incident promised to personally pay a condolence visit
to the residence of the Jacksons.
In his reaction to the incident, the former commissioner for Works and
Transport, Alhaji Aro Yahaya said though he never met Mr Jackson while
alive, he however described the wife as one of the finest breeds of
journalists in the state.
Speaking with our reporter yesterday, Aro Yahaya, said “My thoughts
are with Adejoke, her children and other members of the Jackson
family. I pray that God will comfort them at this torrid period,” he
however added that he intends to visit the family soon.
Similarly, the Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara
State chapter, Mallam Umar Abdulwahab, who was among the early
sympathisers at the family residence, expressed grief describing the
incident as unfortunate.
He however prayed to God to grant the widow the financial strength and
sound health to nurture the children to greatness.
Among the roll call of sympathisers were; the deputy Chief Press
Secretary to the Governor, Mr Ademola Olanrewaju, veteran journalists,
Alhaji Tunde Akanbi and Alhaji Abdullahi Olesin of the Leadership
Newspaper,
Others are, the Chairperson of National Associatin of Women
Journalists (NAWOJ), in the State, Mrs. Ayobola Olupinla, Yunus
Abdulkadir, Public Relation Officer, Kwara State Polytechnic, Sulyman
Yusuf (Information Unit, Kwara State University) and Akeem Olatidoye
of The Herald Newspaper among others.
