Insecurity: KWSG to partner Nigerian legion corps

The Kwara State Government is set to partner the Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissionaires to ensure effective security network in the state and country at large.
This was disclosed by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed during the passing out parade of the 2019 batch Commissioners in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Tuesday.
Leading the support to the course, Governor Ahmed who was represented by his Special Adviser on Security, Abdulsalam Abdulquadri stressed that security of lives and property is paramount to any nation’s development.
He said, “The government will synergise with all security agencies in the state most especially your corps considering your disciplinary measures and experiences to curb menaces in the state.”
He however suggested that the corps tackle insecurity in the country through their vigilance network in collaboration with other agencies.
In his remarks, the Kwara State Corps Commander, Prof. Olasehinde Peter called on government and well-meaning Nigerians in promoting the welfare of ex-service men and families of fallen heroes.
He noted that the corps is capable of providing answers to the security challenges confronting the nation as it graduated 170 cadets in the state.
The Commander charges the cadets to bring to bear in the society the training and values that have been impacted on them.
He said, “apart from the duties of school crime prevention, promoting the welfare of ex-service men and providing empowerment programmes for widows and dependants of fallen heroes, they have been trained to tackle Nigeria’s security problem.”
The event witnessed empowerment of seven widows with sewing machines, hairdressing machine, food items and cash donation.
