Gold Cup: Kwara fans to watch game under floodlights

The 2019 Gold Cup tournament is expected to be watch by soccer fans in the state under the floodlights.
The competition which would take place at the Main Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin has 10 teams participating in the competition which include Kwara United, Lobi Stars, MFM FC and others.
In a bid to improve the quality of this year’s edition, Tunde Shamsudeen disclosed to OGC Media the need to include some games under floodlights to attract fans to the stadium and improve the quality of play.
โWith the class of teams we have invited and have confirmed their participation for this year’s edition, it’ll make no sense when games are played in an half full or empty stadium.”
โSo getting Ilorin fans to come watch not just Kwara United but other teams saw the need to introduce night games.”
โThe essence, players tend to give their best when the atmosphere is calm and for the fans the stadium is like a cinema during such time.โ
He continued, by using the NPFL Super Six which take place at the Agege stadium in Lagos as a case sample to buttress his point.
โResearch has shown that Nigerians over the past few years who follow the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) are thrilled seeing live games play under floodlights.”
โTo buttress my point, look at the NPFL Play-offs that was held in Lagos, the Agege Stadium was always fill during the night games.โ
The competition which is in its seventh edition is billed to kick start on Thursday August 29 to Saturday September 7.
