Lanre Jimoh, 622 other offices promoted by Police Commission

The Police Service Commission (PSC) yesterday approved the promotion of Ilorin-born, Assistant Commissioner of Police officer, Abdulkadir Lanre Jimoh better known as Lanre Olopa to the post of Commissioner.

Jimoh, who is the husband of a former member of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hajia Segilola Abdulkadri, was promoted alongside 622 other senior police officers across various ranks in the force.

Jimoh, formerly worked with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) under the leadership of Mrs Farida Waziri in 2008.

The Head, Public Relations Unit of the Commission, Ikechukwu Ani disclosed the promotion of the 623 police officers in a statement yesterday.

According to him, the promotions were approved at the 7th Plenary Meeting of the Commission held on Friday and Saturday.

Ani added that the promotions were strictly based on seniority, merit, availability of vacancies and clean record of service.

He said that 40 Deputy Commissioners of Police were elevated to Commissioners of Police; 98 Assistant Commissioners to Deputy Commissioners while 150 Chief Superintendents were promoted to Assistant Commissioners.

Ani said that 335 Superintendents also had their promotions approved to the next rank of Chief Superintendent.

According to the statement, Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Musiliu Smith, urged the newly promoted officers to rededicate themselves to national development by upholding the ethics and rules of the force.
