Community Policing: Kwara police to recruit special marshals

In fighting crime and criminality in the state, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has said the command will soon recruit special constable marshals.
They are expected to assist the police in combatting crime in communities in the nooks and crannies of the state
He made this known during a security meeting with the traditional royal fathers in the state on Thursday, at the Police Officers’ Mess, GRA, Ilorin.
Egbetokun stated that the purpose for the establishment of the special constable is to intensify the war against insecurity in various communities in the state
“We are going to start recruiting special marshal constable who are responsible in the community and that have means of livelihood. Those who have interest in securing their various communities.
“The issue of operational vehicles will soon be solved as the state government has promised the command patrol vehicles. Just of recent four vehicles was donated for operation harmony and the government has promised to do more,” he added.
The CP stressed that security is everyone’s business, noting that everyone is the chief security of his family.
” We should work together to stop petty thieves in our area before they turn to armed robbers, ” he advised.
In their separate remarks, monarchs identified inadequate security personnels ,logistic among others at police division in their various communities as major challenge to fighting crime.
