Continued from last Monday
Having successfully completed his two-term tenure as the state Chief Executive, Dr. Bukola Saraki contested election as the Kwara Central Senator and won the election in landslide victory in 2015 general elections. He was subsequently elected the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by members of the red chambers. His performance and achievements so far can be described as excellent. He has been giving qualitative leadership. Under his watch and leadership, the Senate embarked on oversight functions in ministries and projects through good governance, the senate has succeeded in drastically reducing crime and criminality hitherto associated with execution of government projects. Under his leadership, laws are made to create jobs for the teeming youths, particularly the graduates and the women-folk, while the civil servants discharged their duties as expected.
In contribution of his giant stride which doted all sectors of the state, Bukola Saraki has continued in the tradition of excellence, like his late Father, Dr. Olusola Saraki. There is hardly anywhere that has not felt the legacies in term of projects, empowerment benefits and employments that cut across the youths and the elderly people. Kwara State emerged as the largest beneficiary of federal Board appointments; it has never has it so good.
In the 2015/2016 academic session, he awarded scholarships to 71 First Class graduates of Kwara origin from Universities across the country to enable beneficiaries obtain their Masters Degrees. Added to the feat was the payment recently of N5million to offset the tuition fees of Emirate Students in Kwara State Polytechnic and University of Ilorin.
As a caring leader and lover of education, Saraki has extended this commendable gesture to the University admission seekers by his payment of the WAEC fees of not less than 644 candidates for both indigenes and non-indigenes in addition to the payment of JAMB fees for 1,210 students. It is gratifying to note that it has started to yield positive fruits, as youths are now born-again through most of these ongoing efforts of the Senate President.
Today, across Kwara Central region, Saraki has used his influence to facilitate massive construction of roads, culverts, drainages and erosion control intervention that dotted many places across the state like Afon/Aboto boundary roads, Michael Imoudu and Kulende to Oke-Ose dualisation roads. The construction of these roads no doubt serves as creation of wealth to indigenous contractors and improvement of infrastructural development in the state. by these commendable efforts farmers living as this annex can now transfer their farm products easily to towns and villages, thereby boosting the economic activities of the state.
