Ilorin West distributes free JAMB forms to indigent students

Ilorin West Local Government on Thursday distributed free Joint Admission Matriculation Borad (JAMB) forms to indigent students across various wards in the council.
Speaking at the formal presentation of the 55 forms to the beneficiaries at council secretariat, Wara area of the state capital, the Chairman of the council, Hajia Aminat Aromoke Omadara, said the gesture was part of the campaign promise to improve educational standard of the people particularly the potential leaders future leaders.
Beneficiaries cut across the 12 wards in the council and beyond.
She noted that the efforts was aimed at complementing the massive efforts of the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and the administration of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed in their quest for education for all irrespective of status.
She added that the programme; “was a demonstration of our commitment and priority given to education by our administration and the believe that if the young ones get it right, our council, state and the nation will surely get it right.
“To further assist the beneficiaries in our bid to ensure their success in the forth coming JAMB examinations, our council will organise a two day CBT training exercise for all the beneficiaries to enforce their ability on computer.”
She however admonished the beneficiaries to study hard and pray Almighty Allah to crown their efforts with success.
Responding, one of the recipients, Olaloye Abdulkadir Oluwasunkanmi thanked the council chairman for the gesture and for identifying with them at this trying times adding that the story would have been different but for the intervention which will go a long way in making them future leaders.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the council, Hajia Omadara has presented working tools to beneficiaries of Kwara State Public Workfare Programme of the World Bank supported Youths Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO).
She said her administration is committed to a robust and aggressive social economic development of the people which was emphasised during her maiden address on assumption of office to eradicate poverty and complement the efforts of the government in job creation.
She noted that out of the over 200 that participated in the 3-day training programme last year for the scheme, only 188 people from the council will benefit upon the completion of the exercise.
They were presented with working tools by Omadara and will be subsequently assigned responsibilities for the labour intensive activities.
Shovels and head pans among others were presented at the programmes to work three hours daily (9-12noon).
Among the local governments visited by YESSO officials, only Ilorin West assisted with working tools and other support
Present at the ceremony were the HOD Education, Hajia Barakat Atunse and Director Personnel Management, Alhaji Olaitan Balogun.
