KWSG distributes N4.5m relief materials to rainstorm victims

The Kwara State Emergency Management Agency in conjunction with the Ifelodun Local Government have distributed relief materials worth N4.5million to victims of April 2017 rainstorm in Igbaja and Labaka communities.

In a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the council, Mr. Adeyemi Jonathan informed our reporter at the weekend that about 50 houses, school hall and healthcare centre were affected in Labaka, while 25 residential buildings in Igbaja were badly damaged by the storm.

According to him all the victims were covered in the disbursement of relief materials which include; roofing sheet, bags of cements, foodstuff, corn, clothing materials, blanket and asbestos on Friday.

In his remarks, the Elese of Igbaja, Oba Ahmed Babalola Arepo appreciated the state government for the gesture saying it would go a long way to cushion the effect of the storm.

Dignitaries at the event include; the Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Alhaji Abdulfatai Garba, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chairman in Ifelodun, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Ariwo, Liason Officer, Hajia Bilikis Amuda and Youth Empowerment Coordinator, Mr. Ishola Oyeyemi.

Adeyemi further said the relief was actually by the office of the governor, but in synergy with the local council.

In his remarks, the council Chairman, Alhaji Garba appreciated the Governor of the state, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed for coming to the aid of the downtrodden always.
