NLC appeals to KWSG on COED, Ilorin strike

The Kwara State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on the Kwara State Government for prompt intervention on the protracted industrial action by employees of the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin.
Recall that the institution embarked on strike on September 20, 2017 to express their grievances over salary arrears owed them by the state government.
In a statement made available to this medium on Tuesday and signed by the state Chairman of NLC, Comrade Yekeen Agunbiade said, “We in the Congress believe in amicable resolution of issues concerning our members to pave way for industrial peace and harmony in any organisation such as the College of Education, Ilorin.
“We are appealing to the management of the college to reason with the workers to resolve the dispute without further delay, so that students can resume their academic activities seamlessly.
“The leadership of the Congress call on Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for urgent intervention in resolving the salary arrears for COED, Ilorin staff to resume to their duty posts without further delay.”
The statement which was equally sent to security agencies in the state further assured the state government of labour’s support.
