No petition against party state congress in Kwara – Appeal Panel

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Appeal Panel for the last Saturday state congress in Kwara state has denied allegations that his committee was camped by the state government to prevent aggrieved party members from accessing them to make their complaints.

Chairman of the committee, Osita Egwuatu, disclosed this yesterday while briefing newsmen about the committee’s assignment in the state, adding that all went well with the conduct of the congress in the state.

The panel’s chairman disclosed that as at the time of winding up its activities, there was neither a petition nor protest from any quarter to warrant an investigation.

On the allegation that the state government camped them somewhere, Egwuta said: “Go and tell them, we have been here for three days, this is the party secretariat and we are supposed to be here.

“We even pasted the information about our activities on the secretariat board, and we are here in the party secretariat, so how could we have been camped? The fact that they made such a claim means that they acknowledge we were here. We have not received any petition up till now so it is sufficient to say that all went well in this state”, he submitted.

Asked who the authentic APC chairman in the state, is Egwuatu, flanked by the two other members of the committee, Jafar Alhassan and Raji Akin-Akingbulugbe, said the details are contained in his report which are yet to be submitted to the party’s national body.

He, however, said the committee held its assignment at the only known APC secretariat along Agba road, GRA, Ilorin.

The APC secretariat is being occupied by the Hon. Ishola Balogun – Fulani led executive of the party.

Egwuatu, disclosed that as at the time of winding up its activities, there was neither a petition nor protest from any quarter to warrant an investigation.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state has felicitated with the newly inaugurated commissioners and advisers in the state, urging them not to betray the confidence reposed in them.

The party in a statement by its state publicity secretary, Sulyman Buhari also congratulated the state governor, Alh Abdulfatah Ahmed for being so thorough and painstaking in the choices of members of the State Executive Council.

It, however, charged the new appointees to live up to the expectations of the governor in particular and the good people of the state in general in terms of performance and service delivery.

“As a party, we pledge to regularly engage and advise the appointees with a view to ensuring that there is strict adherence to the progressive ideology of our great party for the good of the people of the state,” it added.
