2019: INEC clears 140 for Senate, Reps contest in Kwara

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has cleared a total of 140 candidates from Kwara State for the National Assembly election scheduled for next month.
This was contained in the list of candidates for senatorial and National Assembly elections released by the commission last Thursday.
According to the list which was signed by INEC’s National Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, while 15 candidates will be vying for senatorial tickets for the three slots in Kwara North, Kwara Central and Kwara South will be fielding 22 and 20 candidates respectively.
For the House of Representatives contest, 25 candidates will contest in Kwara North, 30 in Kwara South and 28 in Kwara Central.
About 23 parties will take part in the exercise, according to the list released by the Commission.
The parties that fielded candidates include the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All ProgressiveS Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Accord.
There are also Action Alliance (AA), United Progressives Party (UPP), United Party of Nigeria (UPN), Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN), Peoples Trust (PT), Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party (ANRP) and Alliance National Party (ANP)
Others include African Democratic Congress (ADC), National Conscience Party (NCP), Peoples for Democratic Change (PDC), Justice Must Prevail Party (JMPP), Restoration Party of Nigeria (RP), Alternative Party of Nigeria (APN), Democratic Alternative and Fresh Party.
According to the Commissionโs time table, the list for the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections will be released on January 31, 2019.
